The Toyota Fortuner isn’t offered with TRD parts in
India, but an image from HH Customs India shows an Indian-spec Toyota Fortuner
fitted with a TRD radiator grille. The customised Fortuner has black ORVMs and
what looks like a black roof. The custom parts were sourced from private
importers or ordered off the internet.
The Toyota Fortuner’s TRD grille is not part of the
kit on the Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo sold in Thailand. Instead, it looks
like the one endowed to the Toyota Fortuner TRD showcased at the 2016 Oman
Motor Show. Besides the different look grille, this model had black plastic fog
lamp surrounds, “TRD” underbody engine cover in red colour, matte black TRD
alloy wheels, TRD side steps and a sportier rear bumper.
The Thai-spec Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo is
equipped with special features like dark chrome front grille, dark chrome trunk
cover trim, TRD Sportivo bumpers, 20-inch TRD alloy wheels in black, TRD
Sportivo emblem on the trunk lid, black top film and trunk light, LED scuff
plate and exhaust pipe with TRD emblem. On the inside, the TRD Sportivo variant
has TRD Sportivo design Optitron meter, black and red seats with red stitching,
TRD emblem on the door panels and TRD floor carpet among styling other changes.
TKM introduced the TRD Sportivo variant of the
previous generation Toyota Fortuner in India as a limited edition model in
2013. With the Toyota Innova Crysta having received a sporty treatment in the
Touring Sport, it seems the TRD Sportivo variant of the second-gen Toyota
Fortuner is a certainty during some point of the SUV’s lifecycle.
