The
third generation Kia Picanto has launched in South Africa. The car is available
in four trim levels, Start, Street, Style and Smart. The A segment hatchback is
almost the same size as its predecessor but boasts of improved cabin space with
a 15 mm longer wheelbase. The boot space has also increased from 200 litre to
255 litre and is now the segment topper.
The base variant gets a single driver side airbag,
two speaker audio system, air con and power steering. The Street trim gets
passenger side airbag, ABS, remote central locking, steering mounted audio
controls and 14 inch wheels. The Style trim gets fog lamps, daytime running
lights, rear window wiper, auto light control and four speakers.
The range topping Kia Picanto Smart gets power
windows, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Bluetooth & voice recognition
and reverse camera. The Smart trim also gets aluminium pedals, leather wrapped
steering wheel & gear knob and partial leather upholstery.

Powertrain options start with the 1.0 litre N/A three-cylinder. The powerplant is capable of producing 67 Hp (down
from 69 Hp and 95 Nm of torque (up by 1 Nm). Also on offer is a 1.2 litre four
cylinder mill producing 83 Hp (down from 89 Hp) of power and 122 Nm of torque (up
by 2 Nm).
