Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has
introduced the Volkswagen Passat Trendline Plus and Comfortline Plus, these
come with extra kit worth up to RM 12,000, all while being priced significantly
cheaper than the standard variants.
Retail prices for the Plus models start at RM 144,990
for the Trendline Plus – a whole RM 15,000 lower than the regular Trendline –
while the Comfortline Plus is RM 10,010 less expensive than the standard Comfortline
at RM 164,980. Both figures are net prices excluding on-the-road fees such as
registration and road tax.
On the Trendline Plus, the 16-inch Aragon alloy
wheels are upgraded to the Comfortline’s 17-inch Istanbul rollers, while the
Comfortline Plus gets a corresponding bump to 18-inch Monterey ten-spoke alloys
(different from the top-spec Highline’s Dartford items). Both cars also get
window tint; in total, they amount to an upgrade worth RM 8,000 for the
Trendline Plus, and RM 12,000 for the Comfortline Plus.
Otherwise, kit count remains identical, with the
Trendline Plus receiving halogen reflector headlights, front and rear fog
lamps, LED tail lights, push-button start, auto lights/wipers, front and rear
parking sensors, Climatronic three-zone auto climate control, manual seats,
fabric upholstery and a Composition infotainment system with a five-inch
touchscreen.
The Comfortline Plus adds LED headlights, keyless
entry, Vienna leather upholstery, a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with
memory and massage functions, Park Assist, cruise control, paddle shifters, a
6.5-inch touchscreen, a reverse camera and a powered bootlid with handsfree
operation. Both models get six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist,
stability control and a Driver Alert System.
Powering both models is a 1.8 litre turbocharged TSI
mill producing 180 PS at 5,100 to 6,200 rpm and 250 Nm from 1,250 to 5,000 rpm,
mated to a seven-speed DSG dry dual-clutch transmission.
