Headlight Mag reports that Toyota will introduce
Toyota Yaris Sedan next month in Thailand. The report reveals fresh information
about the family sedan.
Toyota already uses the ‘Yaris Sedan’ nameplate for
the Toyota Vios and a Mazda2 Sedan-based model in some markets. The 2017 Toyota
Yaris Sedan for Thailand is a repurposed Vios. Featuring a Toyota
Corolla-inspired fascia, it reportedly measures 4,425 mm long, 1,730 mm wide
and 1,475 mm tall. The wheelbase will measure the same as the Yaris hatchback
and Vios – 2,550 mm.
As per the new report, the 2017 Toyota Yaris Sedan
will have a 1.2-litre engine. Previous reports identify it is as a reworked
Yaris 3NR-FE Dual VVT-i petrol unit. The four-cylinder mill develops 86 PS and
108 Nm, and is paired to a continuously variable transmission. The Yaris Sedan
will qualify for the government’s Eco Car tax incentives, and launch as the
first such model with 7 airbags. Safety features include ABS, EBD, BA, VSC and
TSC.
Despite relatively bigger, the Toyota Yaris Sedan
will sit below the Toyota Vios in Thailand. The Vios is priced from 6,09,000
baht to 7,89,000 baht. The Yaris Sedan
will compete with lower B-segment sedans like the Nissan Almera and Maruti Ciaz
currently availaing the lower tax.
The 2017 Toyota Yaris Sedan will sell in five
grades: J ECO, J, E, G and S. 15-inch alloy wheels, engine start-stop button,
TFT MID, automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment system and rear
parking camera are specified features. The G and S grades will have black/beige
interior, while others settle for an all-black scheme.
