Skoda
Kodiaq is set to arrive in India in September and is currently undergoing local
testing. CarWale reader Divyansh Agnihotri recently spotted a Skoda Kodiaq test
mule sans camouflage in Pune.
The Skoda Kodiaq is the first SUV developed with the
brand’s new design language for SUVs. Not just that, the Kodiaq is also the
Czech carmaker’s first vehicle offering three-row seating, and has the largest
luggage compartment in its class. It measures 4,697 mm in length, 1,882 mm in
width and 1,676 mm in height, has a wheelbase of 2,791 mm and offers a ground
clearance of 187 mm. International markets have the options of 5- and 7-seat
variants, and India will get the latter.
Skoda India
could pick out the 177 hp 2.0-litre TSI petrol and the 187 hp 2.0-litre TDI diesel engines along with the 7-speed DSG dual-clutch
automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.
Full-LED headlights with LED daytime running lights,
18-inch Trinity alloy wheels, rear LED light cluster, three-zone Climatronic
climate control, 8.0-inch Amundsen touchscreen infotainment system with 2.5D
navigation and SmartLink+ for Apple CarPlay Android Auto and MirrorLink,
electrically adjustable panoramic sunroof and at least eight airbags are some
of the expected main features of the Indian-spec Skoda Kodiaq.
Prices could start around 27 lakh (ex-showroom) and
would go above INR 30 lakh for the top-end configuration. Dealerships are
unofficially taking pre-orders for an amount ranging from INR 20,000 to INR
51,000, and the launch will take place in September.
