2018 Hyundai Sonata launched on the Chinese car market. This is the China-spec version, made locally by the Beijing-Hyundai joint venture. It looks strangely outdated, inside and out, for a new car.

The interior seems far too 2015 in look and tech, the dials are analogue and even Volkswagen has larger touch screens these days.

Hyundai has been in some trouble in China lately, sales are going down fast. Some of that trouble is caused by messy international politics, most by an aging lineup of too many sedans in a country that want crossovers and SUVs. The 'new' Sonata ain't going to help.

Engines is 180 hp 1.6 turbo and a 241 hp 2.0 turbo. A hybrid will be added to the lineup later. Price ranges from US$ 25,000 to US$ 34,800.
