New photos of the Beijing Auto Works BJ2022 Brave
Warrior pickup truck. Beijing Auto Works (BAW) is a subsidiary of the Beijing
Auto Industry Corporation (BAIC). The make a line of rugged SUVs and utility
vehicles.
Chief among those is, or was, the BJ2022 Brave
Warrior, a 4x4 that was originally developed for the armed forces. The BJ2022
has since been succeeded by the BJ80-series, but BAW keeps the old platform
alive with a new four-door pickup truck.
The photos show three double-cab examples; in army
green, in black, and in blue. They all seem civilian cars, they have their
weight and bed-height printed on the front doors, which is common for civilian
commercial vehicles.
The pickup truck will be launched on the Chinese car
market sometime in Q4. Power will come from a 2.2 liter four-cylinder diesel
engine with 110 hp. Price will start around US$ 15,000.
