The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is where you’ll
find the greatest and most exotic automobiles, and it marks the finale of
Monterey Car Week. Held at the Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach,
California, Bugatti chose this year’s event to deliver the first Chiron to a
customer in the United States.
According to the carmaker, North America is its
second most important sales market after Europe, with 30% of order originating
from this region. This example here is painted with a black and yellow exterior
colour scheme, with the “Classique” wheels, horseshoe emblem and certain trim
pieces painted in the latter.
Keen-eyed observers will notice a pair of unsightly
protrusions at the rear of this Chiron, which are required to ensure the car
meets US requirements. So, even though US customers will need to pay a minimum
of US$ 2.998 million to get their hands on the 420 km/h hypercar
(before options), those ugly “bumpers” will still be there.
Inside, the two-tone theme is continued with yellow
leather being applied on the insides of the seats, the armrest on the centre
console, the door trims and the dividing line in the passenger compartment. The
rest of the interior features “Beluga Black’ leather instead.
Other standard items on the Chiron include an 8.0
litre quad-turbo W16 engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic
transmission. The powerplant serves up 1,500 PS and 1,600 Nm of torque, which
is necessary to ensure it hits it limited top speed.
