This is the production version of the BYD Song Max,
a new mid-sized seven-seat MPV for China. The Song Max will launch on the
Chinese car market in September, priced from around US$ 15,000 to US$ 21,000.
Power comes from a 1.5 #turbo four-cylinder petrol
engine with 152 hp. A hybrid will be added to the lineup later. The Song Max
looks great inside and out, with an impressive 12.8 inch touch screen and a big
shiny grille.
Strangely, the dials on the instrument panel are
analog. That just doesn't seem to go very well with the rest of the car. BYD
has fully digital instrument panels on other cars, and they can do them cheap.
