The Changfeng Leopaard Q6. Changfeng Auto is a Chinese car maker, now
owned by Guangzhou Auto (GAC). Leopaard, with double 'A', is a series of rugged
SUVs based on the second generation Mitsubishi Pajero.
Changfeng used to built the Pajero for the Chinese
market under a license agreement with Mitsubishi. They were also allowed to
sell their own variants. Changfeng doesn't make the Pajero anymore but they
still continue to update their own variants.
The Leopaard Q6 is their top-end car, with
pronounced fenders and a black grille. Engines are sourced from Mitsubishi: the
classic 'Sirius' 2.4 with 147 hp, and a 2.0 turbo with 177 hp. The former is
mated to a five-speed manual, the latter to a six-speed manual.Base versions
have rear-wheel drive, high-enders four-wheel drive.
Price for all this old-school pretty starts at US$ 18,000 and ends at US$ 28,000.
