Jeep India has launched the much-awaited Compass at
a starting price of INR 14.95 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). The top of the line
Jeep Compass Diesel Limited 4×4 Option is priced at INR 20.65 Lakhs
(ex-showroom Delhi). Jeep is offering the Compass in three trims – Sport,
Latitude and Limited. The petrol variant is only available in the Sport and
Limited trims, however.
The diesel variant of the Compass comes with a 2.0 L
Multijet II engine that makes 173 PS and 350 Nm. For now, there is only a
6-speed manual transmission on offer. The top-spec Limited trim gets Jeep’s
SelecTerrain all wheel drive system. According to ARAI test figures, the Jeep
Compass diesel 4×2 returns 17.1 km/l overall while the 4×4 returns 16.3 km/l
overall.
The petrol variant of the Compass is powered by a
1.4 L Multiair engine with 162 PS and 250 Nm on tap. While the Jeep Compass
Petrol Sport trim gets a 6-speed manual, the Limited trim gets a 7-speed DCT
automatic. There is no 4×4 on offer.
The top of the line Limited trim gets LED pilot
lamps, daytime running lights, LED tail lamps and 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside,
there is a 7-inch UConnect infotainment unit that supports Apple CarPlay and
Android Auto. Other features include passive keyless entry, push button start
and automatic climate control. Dual front airbags, ABS, Traction Control and
ESC are offered as standard. The Limited Option pack gets you dual tone paint
shades and Bi-xenon HID headlamps.
FCA India also introduced the Mopar brand at the launch
of the Jeep Compass. Mopar will be responsible for handling after sales duties
for Jeep in India and 48 dealerships are now Mopar-ready. Jeep claims to have
garnered 5,000 bookings for the Compass in just 40 days. Deliveries of the
diesel variants of Jeep Compass will commence August 6 onwards. Petrol
automatic variants will start reaching owners by Diwali.
