Targetted at the taxi market, the Maruti Suzuki Tour
S, showcased at Prawaas 2017 last month, is based on the second generation
Swift Dzire. The Maruti Tour S available in LXi/LDi trims only with the option
of Petrol, CNG and Diesel.
On the outside, the Tour S features body colour
bumpers, black grille with a chrome Suzuki badge and steel wheels. It retains
the chrome applique on the boot lid. Like the LXi/LDi trims of the previous
generation Dzire it comes with black A and B pillar, black door handle and
black ORVM casing.
The cabin of the Tour S variant is finished in a
black and beige combination with basic features like manual air conditioning
and power windows. Maruti has replaced the instrument cluster with a very basic
unit. The twin dial setup has been ditched in favour of a more cost effective
single dial for the speedo flanked by engine temperature and fuel gauges. A
digital trip meter sits on the right of the speedometer.
The model that was on display at Prawaas 2017 seems
identical to the images of the low-cost variant of the Dzire sent to us by a
reader in April. However, while the photographed by our reader had ‘Swift Dzire
Tour’ badging, this one carries a ‘Tour S’ badge indicating the Swift and Dzire
names have been dropped. Since there seem to be no apparent changes in
equipment and specifications, looks like MSIL will sell the cut price second
generation Dzire as Maruti Suzuki Tour S here onward.
The Maruti Tour S comes in three colours – White,
Black and Silver. It is powered by a 1.2 L K12 Petrol with 82 PS and 113 Nm on
tap. The other engine option is the 1.3 L DDiS diesel that puts out 75 PS and
190 Nm. Both come with only a 5-speed manual transmission. The Maruti Suzuki
Tour S LXi is priced at INR 521,846 while the LDi diesel variant costs INR
624,185. Ex-Showroom Mumbai.
