Volkswagen is getting ready to go after the Nissan
Juke with an entirely new small crossover, the T-Roc. Set to debut on August
23, the T-Roc has been teased in a new video, which provides insights into its
exterior and interior design.
Positioned under the Tiguan, the new Volkswagen
T-Roc, which was previewed by a concept car more than 3 years ago, is
underpinned by the MQB A0 architecture, shared with the new Seat Ibiza and
Polo.
The engine lineup is said to include three- and
four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines, such as the 1.0L, 1.5L, 1.6L and
2.0L units, mated to a standard manual gearbox, or an optional dual-clutch
automatic. Previous reports spoke about an all-wheel drive option too, which
will be offered at an extra cost. An
'R'-badged performance version of the subcompact SUV is also believed to be on
the table, according to sources.
The T-Roc will be inspired by the larger Tiguan,
albeit with bolder front and rear ends. Wide fenders and a raked roof are also
expected to be part of the package, while inside, a selection of leather and
fabric materials will greet users, along with a digital instrument cluster.
