The Toyota Yaris ATIV has made its world debut in
Thailand. The all-new Yaris Sedan’s launch will take place at the BIG Motor
Sale 2017 held between 19 – 27 August 2017 in Bangkok. The Toyota Yaris ATIV
qualifies for Thailand’s Eco Car tax incentives. Its positioned as a more
economical offering compared to the Toyota Vios.
The Toyota Yaris ATIV is 4,425 mm long, 1,730 mm
wide and 1,475 mm tall. Compared to the Toyota Vios, it is 5 mm longer and 30
mm wider. The wheelbase (2,550 mm) is the same. The Yaris ATIV offers a ground
clearance of 133 mm, 12 mm lower than the Vios. It shares the 3NR-FE 1.2-litre
Dual VVT-i petrol engine with the Yaris hatchback. Producing 86 PS and 108 Nm of
torque, this engine routes power via a continuously variable transmission.
On the outside, the Toyota Yaris ATIV features
projector headlights with LED light guiding, horizontal LED DRLs, 15-inch alloy
wheels, electrically adjustable and foldable rearview mirrors and tail lamps
with LED light guiding. Leather door trim, shift knob and steering wheel,
Optitron instrument panel with 4.2-inch MID and 7-inch touchscreen multimedia
system with DVD player and six speakers are some of the interior highlights.
Safety and driver assistance features of the Toyota
Yaris ATIV include parking sensors (rear), reverse camera, ABS, EBD, BA, VSC,
TRC and HAC. The Yaris ATIV is the only car in its segment to offer seven
airbags. It is available in five grades: S, G, E, J and J ECO, with prices
starting at 4,69,000 baht.
Toyota builds the Yaris ATIV at the Gateway
Manufacturing Plant in the Chachoengsao Province, Thailand. It plans to export
the new sub-compact sedan from this facility to over 70 countries. 4,700 units
is the new Eco Car’s monthly domestic sales target for this year.
