2018 Ford EcoSport launched on the Chinese car
market. Ford's small crossover has been updated with a new front, a new rear,
and a new dashboard. The new grille is most eye catching, big and shiny, giving
the EcoSport a much stronger look.
Inside there is a new but not impressive touch
screen for the infotainment. The screen stands atop the center stacks and
measures just 8 inch. Graphics look similar to those on an early 2000's Palm
handheld PC. Ford lags far behind the Chinese competition, where 10 and 12 inch
screens with ultra sharp graphics are the norm these days.
Under the hood, there are 120 hp 1.5, 125 hp 1.0 turbo 3-pot, and a
170 hp 2.0 engines. The China-spec Ford EcoSport us made locally at the Changan-Ford
joint venture. Price for the 2018 model starts at US$ 12,300 for the
base model and ends at US$ 24,600 for a fully loaded 2.0 with four-wheel drive.
