Toyota Motor Thailand has launched the 2018 Toyota
Yaris with an updated exterior and interior design. The launch of the new Yaris
takes place around a month after that of its sedan derivative – Toyota Yaris
ATIV.
The new Yaris hatchback bears the same front fascia
as the sedan version. It features an expansive V-shape air intake with
integrated LED pilot lamps towards the upper corners. Circular fog lamps are
housed in ice hockey stick shaped black inserts. The headlamps have been
reprofiled with the lower edge tapering upwards near the grille. Speaking of
which, the grille is also new with a body colour housing for the Toyota badge.
Towards the rear, the boot lid gets sheet metal
changes accompanied by new split tail lamps with horizontal LED signature.
There is also a new 15-inch alloy wheel design on offer. Toyota is offering the
Yaris in seven colours – Citrus Mica Metallic, Orange Metallic, Red Mica
Metallic, Super White II, Silver Metallic, Grey metallic, and Attitude Black
Mica.
The dashboard layout of the 2018 Toyota Yaris is
identical to the Yaris ATIV sedan. There’s a 2-DIN audio setup with Bluetooth,
USB, and AUX support. Features on offer on the top-spec G trim include an
Optitron instrument console, smart entry and push-button start, MID, auto
aircon, and electrically adjustable and retractable ORVMs. Safety features
include dual front, curtain shield and driver’s knee airbags, ABS with EBD,
VSC, TRC, and HAC.
In terms of engine and transmission option, there
are no changes. The 2018 Toyota Yaris continues with the 3NR-FE 1.2-litre Dual
VVT-i engine. This four-cylinder petrol engine develops 86 PS and 108 Nm of
torque. Drive is sent to the front wheels via a continuously variable
transmission, which is standard.
Prices of the 2018 Toyota Yaris start at TBH 479,000 for the entry-level J Eco trim. Here’s the full price list of the
