New photos of the upcoming Chery Karry X70, a new
seven-seat SUV for China. Karry is a brand under Chery Auto, they used to make
only commercial vehicles, but recently they have moved into passenger cars. The
move is part of Chery Auto's new strategy where Karry goes cheap, Chery sits in
the middle, and Qoros at the top.
The Karry X70 is a large car, larger even than the
Chery Tiggo 7. It measures 4683/1895/1679 mm, with a wheelbase of 2720 mm. It seats
seven in a 2/3/2 configuration. There will be two engines available: a 1.6 with
about 125 hp and a 1.5 turbo with about 150 hp.
The X70 looks rather well inside and out. The
dual tone paint job with the white roof. Grille and lights are great, and it
has an almost beautiful shoulder line at the rear. The interior comes with
leather seats, a sleek center tunnel, a digital instrument panel, and a 10 inch
touch screen. The design of the center stack sits a bit heavy on the eye.
The Chery Karry X70 SUV will launch on the Chinese
car market in November. Price is expected to start near US$ 15,000.
