Smart has announced a number of minor model year
updates for the ForTwo, ForTwo Cabrio and ForFour at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Set to be available from autumn, the upgrades start
with the Perfect Equipment Line that offers a sporty yet elegant look and is
offered in black and brown. Inside, customers can choose between fake leather
and fabric in black/brown with brown contrast stitching and grey air vents. A
set of 15-inch wheels painted black complete the alterations.
Also new to the Smart range is Active Brake Assist.
Available as an option in select countries, the system works in conjunction
with the combustion engines and emits a warning sound if there’s a risk of a
collision with a vehicle driving ahead. If the driver doesn’t react, the car
will automatically start to apply the brakes until the driver stamps on the
brakes themselves.
The updated Smart cars also benefit from some minor
technology upgrades inside. These include voice-operated smartphone control with
Siri in the Smart Media-System as well as a USB charging socket in the center
console. Android Auto has been added as has a system dubbed Charge Spot Finder
that helps drivers of electric Smart cars find the nearest charging station.
Changes conclude with an automatically dipping rear
vision mirror and the inclusion of a new color dubbed Autumn Brown.
