Mahindra has launched the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio Pik Up in South Africa. The pickup version follows three years after SUV version was launched in India.

The new Mahindra Scorpio Pik Up is available in single-cab and double-cab cab styles. Mahindra showcased an open-sided safari version also at the launch. The 2018 Mahindra Scorpio Pik Up is 5,175 mm long, 1,820 mm wide and 1,860 mm (single-cab)/1,915 mm (double-cab) long.


The Scorpio Pik Up single cab has a load area of (length x width x depth) of 2,294 x 1,520 x 550 mm and a payload capacity of 1,195 kg (2WD)/1,095 kg (4WD). The same figures reduce to 1,489 x 1,520 x 550 mm and 1,095 kg (2WD)/995 kg (4WD) respectively in the Scorpio Pik Up double cab. The towing capacity is 2,500 kg (braked)/750 kg (unbraked), applicable for both cab styles.

Under the hood, 2018 Mahindra Scorpio Pik Up, has a 2.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 138 hp at 3,750 rpm and 320 Nm of torque from 1,500-2,800 rpm. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard. A four-wheel drive system is available. Noteworthy features include dual projector headlamps with LED running lamps, keyless entry, automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment system with GPS navigation, cruise control, micro hybrid engine start/stop system, ABS with EBD and dual airbags.


Prices start at R 187,995 for the single cab version and at R 324,995 for the dual cab version.
