Yamaha has showcased its premium scooters, the
Yamaha TMax 530 and the Yamaha Tricity 155 at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show.
The Yamaha TMax 530 is a sporty scooter from Yamaha,
with premium underpinnings. The scooter comes with twin LED headlamps, and a
twin-pod analogue instrument cluster with a digital inset in-between. The
display model is the DX variant that comes with an electrically adjustable
windscreen, cruise control, heated handlebars and rider’s seat. D-mode, traction
control system and smart key are standard as well.
The scooter draws power from a 530cc inline twin
cylinder engine. The DOHC water-cooled mill makes 46 PS at 6,750 rpm, and 53 Nm
at 5,250 rpm. The engine pairs with an automatic transmission that transfers
power to the rear wheel using a belt drive. An upside down front fork and a
link-type rear monoshock hold the diamond frame. Twin 267 mm front discs with
radial callipers, and single 282 mm rear disc handle the braking
responsibility. The scooter costs 1,350,000 Yen (MSRP) in Japan.
The Yamaha Tricity is a three-wheeled scooter that
features Yamaha’s Leaning Multi-Wheel (LMW) technology. The scooter comes with
two front wheels that boost mechanical grip and assist in handling across a
variety of road conditions. The underseat storage capacity stands at 23.5
litres, and the front apron gets a small compartment that houses a 12V DC
outlet.
The Yamaha Tricity 155 employs a 155cc single
cylinder engine with liquid cooling and fuel injection. The SOHC mill is
capable of generating 15 PS at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The engine
works in tandem with an automatic transmission. The two front wheels come with
twin telescopic forks mounted on the inside. The rear gets twin hydraulic shock
absorbers. Twin discs at the front and a single disc at the rear feature UBS
(unified brake system) and ABS. Yamaha has priced the scooter at 453,600 Yen,
MSRP in the Japanese market.
