After presenting the new generation Continental GT, Bentley is now working on a replacement for its four-door sibling, the Flying Spur.

The upcoming Bentley Flying Spur should have a design similar to the new Continental GT, and it's expected to sport a body made out of aluminum, in a move meant to shave some kilograms from its total weight.

And its diet won't stop there, because beneath the new sheet metal, the car will be underpinned by the same platform as the latest Porsche Panamera. Baptized the MSB, the architecture will allow it to adopt a few engines from its Stuttgart cousin, such as the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, in addition to the rumored twin-turbo W12 that can already be found on the Bentayga.

Moreover, the new Bentley Flying Spur will also benefit from some electrified powertrains, coming as PHEVs, not long after the usual models debut either late next year, or early 2019.
