MSIL is readying the next generation Ertiga
(codename YHB) for 2018. A recent media report indicates that the 2018 Maruti
Ertiga will spawn a crossover variant as well. IAB’s automotive illustrator has
created a rendering showing what the Maruti Ertiga X (Maruti Ertiga cross) may
look like.
The rendering is based on the render of the next-gen
Ertiga we shared last week. To give it a crossover look, the Ertiga gains
protective cladding on the bumpers and around the wheel arches. There’s also
some silver finish underbody protection visible towards the bottom of the front
bumper. The Ertiga X wears fatter rubber wrapped around 5-spoke alloy wheels
and gets roof rails as well. The grille is styled similar to the Suzuki Vitara.
Spy pictures of the upcoming MPV have already
started doing the rounds online. Images reveal some design details including a
longer rear overhang as compared to the current model, narrower headlamps, and
new multi-spoke alloy wheels.
The crossover variant could be called Maruti Ertiga
X, similar to the Celerio X nomenclature used for the upcoming cross variant of
the Maruti Celerio. Reports indicate that MSIL may consider moving the sales of
the Ertiga to Nexa dealerships once the new-generation model arrives.
