Nissan has unveiled the Nissan Paramedic Concept at
the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. The commercial vehicle concept is apparently in a
near-production form.
The Nissan Paramedic Concept is a preview of the
fifth generation Nissan ambulance. Since the beginning, Nissan has sold the
Nissan ambulance exclusively in Japan. The company has built the Paramedic
Concept on the basis of the NV350 Caravan. The Paramedic Concept contains
essential life-saving equipment to respond to emergencies. It carries a 1.6 kWh
lithium-ion auxiliary battery for life-saving medical equipment required in
case of an emergency or for patients in remote areas.
The Nissan Paramedic Concept is 5,440 mm long, 1,880
mm wide and 2,490 mm tall. It is powered by the QR25DE 2.5-litre four-cylinder
engine, which is linked to a 5-speed automatic transmission. This petrol mill
produces 147 PS at 5,600 rpm and 213 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm in the regular
Nissan NV350.
The fifth-gen Nissan ambulance evolving from the
Nissan Paramedic Concept will go on sale in FY2018. Nissan aims to double the
annual sales of the ambulance with fifth-gen model’s launch. Along with the
Paramedic Concept, Nissan is showcasing the facelifted Nissan NV350 Caravan
also at the Japanese show.
