Apparently squeezing an additional 102 hp and 174 Nm of torque from the 4.0-liter V8 engine that powers the
Mercedes-Benz G500 4x4² makes it an "ultimate off-road machine" for
Renntech.
The extra oomph brings total output to 518 hp and 784 Nm of torque, and we're absolutely fine with that, but the tuning
company's latest project has a serious competitor - the Brabus 550 Adventure
4x4².
Unlike Renntech, which called it a day after tuning
the ECU and adding a BOV adapter and downpipes, Brabus went the extra mile and
massaged the twin-turbo V8 lump to an even more impressive 542 hp and 800 Nm of torque. They claim that it needs just 6.7 sec for the naught to 100 km/h sprint, before topping out at 209 km/h, and that's very
respectable, considering that it tips the scale at roughly 3 tons.
Additionally, the more civilized version of the of
the Mercedes-AMG G63 6x6, which comes with 'just' two axles, was also fitted
with other features by Brabus.
