The new Nissan Leaf Concept isn’t the only Nismo
study that will be presented at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, as the automaker has
applied similar treatment to their Serena minivan.
Said to enhance its performance "without
sacrificing the base model's family-friendly, utilitarian nature", the
MPV's exterior now reflects Nismo's performance oriented nature, thanks to its
new bumpers, wheels, and red accents.
While on the outside it looks significantly
different than the regular models, not much has changed in the cabin, where the
only things reminding users that they're sitting in a Nismo are the red accents
applied to the steering wheel, and side-vent surrounds. It also appears that
the seats carry a different pattern, and that a darker red shade has been used
for the contrast stitching on the dashboard and door panels.
Following its Tokyo Motor Show premiere, where it
will be displayed alongside the Leaf Nismo Concept, from October 25 to November
5, the Serena Nismo will go on sale locally in November. In other related news,
Nissan has updated the Skyline, with a few touches on the outside, and tweaked
steering wheel, gear shift lever, and instrument panel surface finish in the cabin.
Other changes made to the brand's premium sports
sedan include the addition of the All-Around Safety Shield technology, which
can be combined to the hybrid system and Direct Adaptive Steering. Just like
the Serena Nismo and Leaf Nismo Concept, the updated Nissan Skyline will be
shown in Tokyo too, and it will go on sale across the Land of the Rising Sun in
December.
