This is not the first
sighting of the dual tone Polo. In July, a nearly identical test mule was
spotted on Pune roads. As evident from the images, the VW Polo dual tone
sports a red and black exterior treatment. The Flash Red exterior gets a black
roof, black ORVMs, black roof spoiler, and a black strip at the bottom of the
boot lid. The car has the same 16-inch alloy wheels as the Polo GT Sport but
finished in black in this case. It also has the same decals near the door sill.
However, this particular example is devoid of the GT TSI badging and features a
white stripe on the bonnet running across the roof. The front fender bears a badge
similar in shape to the ‘GTI’ badge on the VW GTI, but it is covered using
black masking tape.
Volkswagen India may be planning yet another special
edition iteration of the Polo hatchback for the Indian market. The VW Polo has
begun showing its age and while international markets have started receiving
the new 2017 MQB-based model, the arrival of the mk6 Polo in India, according
to one report, is not in the Indian business plan.
For the 2017 festive season, VW India has already
introduced a special edition of the hatchback called the VW Polo Anniversary
edition. It is unlikely that another special edition will be added to the
lineup during this period.
