Volvo is gearing up to launch the second generation
XC60 in India. 2018 Volvo XC60 spy pictures were recently shared by Autocar
India, which indicates testing is already underway on Indian soil. The new
generation model will replace the current first gen XC60 that has been on sale
in India since November 2010.
The camouflage covers most of the exterior of the
test mule. However, the headlights, tail lights, wheels, spoiler mounted stop
light, exhaust pipes, and reflector units have been left uncovered. From the
looks of it, the India-spec XC60 will get 19-inch 10-spoke black diamond cut
alloy wheels.
Volvo will bring only the D5 variant in the fully
loaded Inscription trim. A 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine that develops 235
hp and 480 Nm of torque will power the 2018 Volvo XC60 in India. There will be
an 8-speed automatic transmission and AWD on offer. The D4 diesel with 190 hp
and 400 Nm could arrive at a later stage. The XC60 is 4,688 mm long, 1,902 mm
wide and 1,658 mm tall and rides on a 2,865 mm wheelbase.
The company is expected to assemble the SUV locally
at its facility in Bengaluru. However, local assembly may begin at a later
stage with the initial batch for sale in India being brought in as CBUs. Expect
prices to fall in the INR 50-60 lakh bracket ex-showroom. According to a report
from earlier this month, the 2018 Volvo XC60 India launch will take place in
December.
