Patent images of the 2018 Renault Sandero shared by
allthecar.wordpress.com have revealed updates to the tail lamp cluster of the
hatchback. The Brazil-spec Sandero, Stepway, and Sandero R.S. could get these
changes early next year.
The patent images reveal the full suite of exterior
changes the 2018 Renault Sandero is expected to receive. Compared to the model
currently on sale in Brazil, the images reveal a revised front bumper with
updated fog lamp enclosures and chrome finish grille louvers.
The more
prominent change to the rear is in the form of an updated taillight cluster
with a Renault Megane like profile that extends towards the insignia placed on
the boot lid. Also new is the alloy wheel design finished in black and quite
similar to the India-spec Renault Duster’s gun metal finish rims. The exterior changes will extend to the Renault
Sandero based Stepway. The R.S. variant of the Sandero could also get similar updates.
In Brazil, Renault offers the Sandero with a 1.0 L
SCe petrol engine paired with an AMT gearbox. It produces 79 hp (petrol)/82 hp
(ethanol) and 10.2 kgfm (petrol)/10.5 kgfm (ethanol). The other engine option is a 4-cylinder 1.6 L SCe
petrol making 16.0 kgfm (Petrol)/16.0 kgfm (Ethanol) and 115 hp (petrol)/118 hp
(ethanol). The updated 2018 Renault Sandero is expected to replace the AMT unit
with a CVT and gain engine stop/start tech.
