As the testing of the Jeep Grand Commander continues
in China, another batch of spy shots has surfaced on the web, courtesy
autohome.com.cn. The new spy shots reveal the Jeep 7-seat SUV’s interior and
also give a closer look at its exterior.
The Jeep Grand Commander’s interior spy shots show
features like a multifunction 3-spoke steering wheel similar in design to that
of the Jeep Compass and Jeep Grand Cherokee, electric parking brake, two cup
holders behind the gear selector, and foldable armrest with two cup holders in
the second-row bench seat. The new SUV has a 2+3+2 seating layout.
The Jeep Grand Commander is the alleged production
version of the Jeep Yuntu Concept. It is expected to utilise a unibody
platform. Chinese media says that the GME-T4 270 hp 2.0-litre turbocharged
four-cylinder petrol engine will power the Jeep 7-seat SUV. The 2018 Jeep
Wrangler employs this engine with ‘Hurricane’ branding. The latest spy shots
show an automatic transmission with a manual mode in the future model.
The Jeep Grand Commander is likely to have its world
premiere at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show in April next year. Its sales in China
should commence later next year. It’s unknown whether Jeep will launch this
model in other markets or not.
