Rushlane reports that the new Honda Rebel 300 has
been patented in India, raising speculations about the bike’s launch in the
country.
Honda has already fulfilled its promise
of launching four new two-wheelers (Cliq, Grazia, Africa Twin, 2018 Goldwing)
this financial year, hence effectively eliminating possible launches this
fiscal. In August, Minoru Kato, CEO and President of Honda Motorcycle and
Scooter Limited (HMSI) also confirmed that the upcoming motorcycle will be in
the 300-400 cc segment, but will be developed completely from the ground up.
Hence, it is unlikely that the Rebel 300 will come to India.
The Honda Rebel 300 shares its engine with the Honda
CBR 300R. The 286 cc DOHC mill with liquid cooling and fuel injection makes
27.3 PS and 27 Nm. The engine pairs with a 6-speed gearbox. Suspension bits
include 41 mm telescopic front fork, and twin rear shock absorbers. For
braking, the Rebel 300 employs discs on both ends, with optional dual-channel
ABS.
The bike comes with an 11.2-litre fuel tank, and the
claimed efficiency stands at 33.16 km/l. The 16-inch alloys are shod with
130-section front and 150-section rear rubber. The motorcycle tips the scales
at 165 kg (kerb weight). In the US market, the bike costs US$ 4,449 MSRP for
the non-ABS variant. The ABS version is USD 300 more expensive.
