The Isuzu MU-X was only recently facelifted, but it
appears there are yet more changes incoming for the D-Max-based body-on-frame
SUV. According to Chinese portal autohome.com.cn, the Japanese commercial
vehicle maker has revealed the new model’s interior ahead of its Chinese-market
launch on December 26.
The sole image shows a completely new dashboard,
with a tablet-like infotainment system – which appears to support Apple CarPlay, sitting between the centre air vents. There’s also greater use of wood trim,
and the distinctive round air-conditioning controls have been ditched for more
conventional knobs and switches. The three-spoke steering wheel has also been
redesigned.
Facelifted models already sport a refreshed exterior
with LED head- and tail lights, reprofiled bumpers and a more prominent roof
spoiler, plus larger 18-inch alloy wheels. While we get the same 136 PS/320 Nm
2.5 litre turbodiesel as before, other markets gain a new 1.9 litre Ddi Blue
Power unit making 150 PS at 3,600 rpm and 350 Nm of torque between 1,800 and
2,600 rpm.
Thai news portal Headlight Magazine added that the
update could see the introduction of a new 2.4 litre RZ engine to replace the
current 177 PS/380 Nm 3.0 litre turbodiesel. There’s a choice of six-speed
manual and automatic transmissions, although we currently get a five-speed
automatic.
