The Mahindra TUV300 Plus has appeared completely
undisguised yet again in spy shots, courtesy Autocar India. The Mahindra TUV300
will replace the Mahindra Xylo.
The Mahindra TUV300 Plus is an extended version of
the Mahindra TUV300 sub-4 metre SUV. It appears to have a more forward-leaning
D-pillar and bigger wraparound tail lamps that extend even further on the
sides. Spy shots suggested that Mahindra merely has stretched the SUV from
behind the C-pillar to make room for side-facing seats that seat two people
each. While the TUV300 accommodates 7 people, the TUV300 Plus will offer seats
for 9 people. Dealer sources say that the TUV300 Plus will have multiple
seating configurations.
The Mahindra TUV300 Plus will measure over 4 metres
in length, and so, Mahindra will take the liberty of employing an engine bigger
than 1.5-litre in displacement. Reports say that Mahindra Scorpio’s 1.99-litre
diesel engine will power the TUV300 Plus. There are rumours of a 2.2-litre
diesel engine too. Mahindra could keep the 1.99-litre diesel engine’s
availability limited to Delhi-NCR, like in the Scorpio’s case.
Mahindra has not revealed when it plans to introduce
the Mahindra TUV300 Plus. However, the company testing it completely
undisguised on the public roads is an indication that the launch is not very
far now.
