Volkswagen’s presence in the aftermarket industry and modding community is vibrant to say the least, especially if you take into consideration what happens at Worthersee.

It’s safe to assume that the German automobiles are used to showcase the latest tuning trends, as fans continuously stretch the limits of their vehicles with various add-ons. In fact, the movement has gotten so big that even Volkswagen is doing it now.

We’re not talking about the various projects that are more closely related to concept cars, but vehicles that use proper aftermarket elements with proper street-cred – as Volkswagen of America unveiled its enthusiast show fleet for 2016.

Three Golfs, a Jetta GLI and a Passat were assembled to promote the car maker’s rich tradition, taking inspiration from diverse interests of Volkswagen enthusiasts.

Take the 1.8T Bali Green Golf, for instance; inspired by the famous paint scheme form the MK1 Rabbit, this 2016 1.8T replicates exactly what happens in the aftermarket business – namely employing diverse predecessor reminiscing components. That why it sports yellow headlight tinting, gold spoke 19-inch BBS Super RS rims, and a black heritage stripe along the bottom of the doors.

The purple Golf GTI is all about the “wow factor”, appealing with its 20-inch forged LC-103 gloss gold wheels from Vossen and eye-poking paint scheme. Volkswagen says the heritage stripe on its doors are mirrored again on the carrier box in order to prove that practicality, looks, and performance can exist simultaneously in the same vehicle.

There’s even a Golf R that caters to the Wolfsburg-based company’s own style, modeled after the Scirocco GT Black Edition that’s available in the UK. The vehicle features a few subtle modifications that make it stand out from the others, mainly a matte black roof wrap which matches the VW Zubehör 19-inch black aluminum-alloy Lugano wheels.

Completing the fleet is a pair of four doors sedans, each adopting its own unique style. Whereas the Jetta GLI (which looks remarkably similar to the Momo editions) was created to shine on the track, sporting a set of BFGoodrich g-Force Rival tires on 18-inch Neuspeed RSe52 wheels, mounted to HandR Street Performance coilovers for improved grip and handling, the Passat features a custom AccuAir E-Level TouchPad air management package.

Riding on 20-inch forged LC-106T Vossen wheels with full polish and gloss clear, the Passat has the trunk outfitted with custom wood flooring, housing the intricate work of the air suspension system.
