Bajaj Auto has unveiled the 2018 Bajaj Avenger 220
Street & the 2018 Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise variants in the country. Prices
for the new Avenger range will be announced in a few days.
The two cruisers get subtle styling updates. The
2018 Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise features integrated windshield, and LED DRLs on
both sides of the inverted triangular headlamp. The single pod instrument
cluster is now all-digital. It has a speedometer, odometer, two trip meters,
fuel bars, clock, and service reminder. The display on the tank houses the
tell-tale lights. The bike gets ‘Highway Comfort’ handlebars for laid-back
stance. Bajaj has revamped the tail light with the new integrated halo-effect
design, and the back-rest is cushioned as well. The exhaust heat shield sports
a different design in the 2018 version.
The 2018 Bajaj Avenger 220 Street comes with
roadster design headlamp with LED DRL on the lower portion. There’s a
fly-screen on top of the headlamp as well. The bike uses the same digital
single pod digital instrument cluster as the Cruise variant, but the bezel
sports a brushed metal finish. The bike gets a sporty backrest, unlike the
cushioned one in the Cruise. The motorcycle features ‘Street Control’
handlebars for sporty riding position.
The two motorcycles employ the same 220 cc DTS-I
engine with air and oil cooling. It makes 19.03 PS of power at 8,400 rpm, and
17.5 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. The engine works in tandem with a 5-speed
gearbox. Cycle parts for the two bikes include telescopic front fork, and twin
rear shock absorbers. For anchorage, the motorcycle uses 260 mm front disc and
a 130 mm rear drum. ABS is still absent.
The Avenger Street variant gets Matte Black and Matte
White colour options. The Avenger Cruise comes in Auburn Black and Moon White
colours. The only competitor for the Avenger twins in the segment is the Suzuki
Intruder 150.
