The 2018 Bajaj Avenger Street 220 has been spied
ahead of its launch. The motorcycle features subtle styling updates to make it
look more modern. The 2018 Bajaj Avenger Street 220 sports updated
graphics. The red stripe is reminiscent of the one found in the Bajaj V15. The
headlight nacelle bears a brushed metal finish.
There is also a small flyscreen
that covers the circular all-digital instrument cluster. The panel on the fuel
tank is digital as well. The side box features a slightly different design. The
seat and the rear grab rail seem to be the same as the existing bike. The grab
rail gets a small wrap behind the pillion seat, though. The tail light is now
sleeker and is LED. The indicators are bulb-type, and the rear fender is
slightly longer.
The current Avenger 220 makes 19.03 PS at 8,400 rpm,
and 17.5 Nm at 7,000 rpm from its 220 cc air and oil-cooled mill. Expect the
2018 variant to continue with the same engine. The powerplant works in tandem
with a five-speed gearbox. Cycle parts include the same telescopic front fork
with gaiters and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Brakes include disc at the
front and drum at the rear. The bike could come with a single-channel ABS as an
option.
The 2018 Bajaj Avenger Street 220 reportedly costs
INR INR 93,000, ex-showroom, Mumbai. The on-road, Mumbai price is INR 1,09,000.
The only competitor of the cruiser in the segment is the Suzuki Intruder 150.
Bajaj will be launching its ‘All-new’ Discover bikes along with the unveil of the
2018 range tomorrow. It is possible that the brand will launch this motorcycle
tomorrow along with the new Discover range.
