Bajaj Auto showcased the 2018 Bajaj Platina
ComforTec at the launch event of the 2018 Discover range. The 2018 Bajaj
Platina ComforTec entered the Indian market in October last year. The bike
features an LED DRL on top of the headlamp. Bajaj claims that it is the first
Indian bike in the 100cc-150cc segment to come with LED DRL, consumes 88% less
power than a 35W bulb; and has four times longer life. It also comes with new
graphics, new instrument cluster design and superior tyres. The bike is
available in Ebony Black, or Cocktail Wine Red colour.
The USP of the bike is the ComforTec feature. The
Platina comes with 28% longer travel front telescopic suspension and 22% longer
rear twin SNS shock absorbers resulting in superior absorption of jerks,
therefore delivering maximum comfort to the rider. It also sports a
‘spring-soft’ seat, rubber footpads and Ceat directional tyres that enhance
ride comfort and stability.
The new Bajaj Platina ComforTec employs a 102 cc
single cylinder 2-valve DTS-I engine. It generates 7.9 PS of power at 7,500 rpm
and 8.34 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. Both kick and electric starter are
standard, and the claimed top speed is 90 kmph. The engine mates with a 4-speed
transmission. Brakes include 130 mm drum at the front and 110 mm drum at the
rear.
The ex-showroom, New Delhi price of the bike is INR
47,155. The commuter goes against Hero Passion Pro, TVS Sport, and Hero
Splendor range. The Platina tips the scales at 111 kg, kerb.
