Following its international debut last year, the
2018 BMW X3 has reached India, spy shots published by CarToq have revealed. The
all-new BMW X3 will likely have its local launch at Auto Expo 2018 next month.
The 2018 BMW X3 is the third generation of the
mid-size luxury SUV. Underpinned by the CLAR platform, the redesigned BMW X3 is
up to 55 kg lighter than its predecessor. It measures 4,708 mm in length, 1,891
mm in width and 1,676 mm in height. Its wheelbase spans a length of 2,864 mm. Internationally,
the all-new BMW X3 is available with multiple 2.0-litre four-cylinder and
3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, all coupled to an 8-speed
automatic transmission. Drivetrain layout choices include sDrive RWD and xDrive
AWD.
In India, BMW will likely launch the 2018 BMW X3 in
the xDrive20d engine model. This would mean a 2.0-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo
diesel engine in the tune of 190 PS and 400 Nm of torque, the 8-speed
Steptronic automatic transmission and the xDrive permanent AWD system. The spy
shots suggest that our market will get the all-new BMW X3 in the Luxury Line
grade.
The 2018 BMW X3 Luxury Line’s key highlights are LED
headlights, LED fog lights, chrome kidney grille, bi-colour skid plates, chrome
side window graphic, Frozen Gray side skirts, and 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels.
The model seen in the images seems equipped with the 19-inch style 696 bicolour
Ferric gray alloy wheels.
The 2018 BMW X3 is expected to have a starting price
of somewhere in the INR 50-55 lakh (ex-showroom) range. It will compete with
the likes of the Lexus NX, Audi Q5, Mercedes GLC and Volvo XC60.
