Head to the track on any given weekend and you’re
likely to see a handful of Porsche 911s of various vintages racing against one
another. But the iconic German sports car has also been known to rally
off-road, like this one that’s now up for auction.
It’s a 911 T from 1970 that’s been comprehensively
restored and converted to rally specification, complete with classic baby blue
and orange Gulf livery.
Restored by Job’s Classic in the Dutch town of
Dalfsen, the tail-happy Elfen comes powered by a 2.2-liter flat six with a pair
of double Solex carbs to produce 130 horsepower. It rides on a set of black
15-inch Fuchs-style alloys shod with Toyo tires, with ventilated front disc
brakes, a hydraulic hand brake, and a fully rebuilt gearbox, with auxiliary
lights to illuminate whatever surface it’s traveling on at speed.
Inside you’ll find a pair of bucket seats
upholstered in black leather with Gulf blue stitching, a Momo steering wheel,
and all the telematics equipment you’ll need to measure your trap times.
The car is currently situated in the Netherlands and
registered in Germany. With 56,000 miles on the clock, it’s clearly been driven
a lot, and likely driven hard, but is described as being in good condition.
It’s currently up for auction on
Catawiki, with a high bid (as we go to press) of US$ 37,377. The auction site’s
experts figure it’s worth a good US$ 130-160k, though, so this could be your
chance to get a steal on a stylish and proven rally machine.
