The sixth generation BMW M5 has been launched in India priced INR 1,43,90,000 (ex-showroom) onwards. The 2018 BMW M5 was launched at the Auto Expo on February 7, 2018, along with the Mini Countryman and BMW 6-Series Gran Turismo.

The M5 employs a 4.4-litre M TwinPower Turbo engine. The bi-turbo V8 petrol mill puts out 600 PS from 5,600-6,700 rpm and 750 Nm of torque from 1,800-5,600 rpm. The 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission is standard. 


It comes equipped with the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system as well, but there is an option drive the car in rear-wheel drive with Dynamic Stability Control switched off. 3.4 seconds is all it takes for the sedan to breach the 100 km/h mark from standstill. The optional M Driver’s Package option ups the top-speed to 305 km/h from an otherwise electronically limited 250 km/h.

On display at the Auto Expo was the BMW M5 First Edition. It features exclusive BMW Individual Frozen Dark Red Metallic paintwork. Inside, it again gets special treatment. The plaque on the centre console reading the production number to signify the car’s exclusivity. BMW is offering only 400 copies of the 2018 BMW M5 First Edition.
