Ford will launch the facelifted Ford Figo and
facelifted Ford Aspire in India this year. A 2018 Ford Figo was recently spied
on test in Gujarat, where the company makes the car in Sanand. The car’s LHD
version for export markets was also spotted this time.
The 2018 Ford Figo should receive subtle exterior
changes with the mid-cycle update. The facelifted model is likely to feature
new hexagonal front grille in honeycomb mesh design, slimmer and wider central
air intake, reshaped fog lamp housing and restyled bumper. At the rear, the new
model will have tweaked tail lamps. Inside, the new Ford Figo is likely to
feature the SYNC 3 touchscreen infotainment system among other changes.
A new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine from
the Dragon engine family will replace the 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine
in the Ford Figo. While the old engine produces 88 PS and 112 Nm of torque, the
new engine will deliver 95 hp and 115 Nm of torque. Ford is expected
to offer it with the new MX65 5-speed manual transmission from Getrag. The 2018
Ford Figo is said to get the Ford EcoSport’s 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol
engine (123 PS/150 Nm) as well, as a replacement for the current 1.5-litre
four-cylinder petrol engine (112 PS/136 Nm).
The 2018 Ford Figo may arrive later during the first
half of the year. Before that, Ford will unveil Ford Figo Freestyle, a CUV
based on it at the end of this month.
