A Facebook fan page that goes by the name ‘i20
Elite’ has shared undisguised images of the 2018 Hyundai i20 facelift. These
images reveal the exterior and interior updates the hatchback gets as part of
the mid-life refresh.
As anticipated, the front end gains Hyundai’s
signature ‘Cascading’ grille along with a reprofiled bumper and new fog lamp
enclosures. This particular unit features projector headlamps with LED DRLs
indicating that is in the top-spec Asta(O) grade. At the back, there’s a new
bumper with a black insert towards the lower portion housing the reflector
units. The number plate has now moved up to the rear hatch. The updated
taillight is also partially visible.
Inside, the button arrangement flanking the
touchscreen has been rejigged. The central aircon vents positioned above the
screen have been reprofiled slightly and so have the hazard light and central
locking buttons. The vents now get silver finish surrounds.
According to report published last month, the Hyundai
i20 will drop the 1.4 L Gamma petrol and 4-speed automatic combo in favour of a
more cost-effective 1.2 L Kappa petrol plus CVT option. The rest of the engine
and transmission options will be carried over unchanged.
Hyundai is expected to showcase the new Hyundai i20
2018 model at the Auto Expo (7-14 February 2018). Its market launch could also
take place at the event.
