MINI recently introduced a minor facelift for the
Cooper hatchback and convertible and now it appears the Clubman is next in
line. Spotted undergoing testing in Munich,
this particular model is lightly camouflaged and doesn’t appear to feature any
major changes.
The Clubman could follow
in the footsteps of the Cooper and adopt restyled headlights, updated alloy
wheels and two-dimensional MINI logos. The Cooper also received Union
Jack-inspired taillights but it remains unclear if they will carry over to the
Clubman.
The interior could receive a minor refreshing that
includes a new three-spoke steering wheel, updated upholstery and an upgraded
audio system with a 6.5-inch display. There could also be updated MINI
Connected system with several new features such as real time traffic
information and a personal concierge service. Other possible upgrades include a
new wireless smartphone charger and a touchscreen navigation system with an
8.8-inch display.
Like the Cooper, the Clubman is expected to feature
a revised engine lineup that has a host of improvements. MINI has previously
said these include changes to the “TwinPower Turbo Technology, engine
electronics, oil supply, intake air ducting, the cooling system and the exhaust
systems.” Several of the engines might be offered with a new seven-speed
dual-clutch transmission.
