Volvo has announced plans to introduce the all-new
V60 on February 21st. The company is keeping details under wraps -apparently
with not that great success– but it released a retro-themed teaser video which
showcases a handful of their iconic station wagons. The clip then shows several
glimpses of the redesigned model which will debut later this month.
The V60 will stick to the same
styling philosophy which has been used on models such as the V40 and V90. The
front will be dominated by a wide grille which is undoubtedly flanked by the
company’s ‘Thor’s Hammer’ headlights.
Moving further back, there’s a stylish greenhouse
which is accented by metallic trim. The model also has silver roof rails,
familiar taillights and an available panoramic glass roof. The clip only
provides a few peeks at the cabin but it appears to be heavily influenced by
the XC60. As a result, we can expect a stylish Scandinavian design with high
quality materials. The wagon should also feature a large infotainment system
with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
Engine options remain unconfirmed but choices are
expected to carryover from the XC60. This means options may include a
turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 250 hp and 349
Nm of torque as well as a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-liter
four-cylinder with 316 hp and 399 Nm of torque. We can
also expect a plug-in hybrid variant with the latter engine and an 87 hp electric motor. This could enable the wagon to have a combined output of
400 hp and 639 Nm of torque.
