Hyundai will launch a new city car (codename: Hyundai AH2) positioned below the Hyundai Grand i10 in India this year. A new report from Moneycontrol suggests that Hyundai will most likely introduce it as the next-gen Hyundai Santro.

The Hyundai Santro is one of the most popular nameplates in India. Launched in September 1998, the car sold over 1.9 million units during its life of 16 years. 


The Hyundai AH2 is said to have a body bigger than the Hyundai Santro Xing that was 3,565 mm long, 1,525 mm wide and 1,590 mm tall. Hyundai either a 1.0-litre petrol or a 1.2-liter petrol engine. Transmission choices will likely include 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automated manual as confirmed by the company.

The Hyundai AH2’s world debut will reportedly take place at Auto Expo 2018. Mr. Koo has said that the launch would take place around Diwali this year. The next-gen Hyundai Santro aka Hyundai AH2 will compete with the likes of the Tata Tiago and Maruti Celerio.
