Lister has announced its plans to create a
McLaren-rivalling hypercar. Set to be named the Storm II, the car will come to
fruition after years of interest from Lister chief executive Lawrence
Whittaker. If reports are to be believed, the vehicle won’t be a half-hearted
attempt at rivaling the industry’s best.
Lister is said to be so serious about the
hypercar that it has already sought investors to buy into the development of
the model. It is also possible that it could utilize a supercharged 7.8-liter V12
engine derived from Jaguar and delivering a healthy 1000 hp.
Such a brutal power figure could help the vehicle
achieve the performance times almost every proposed hypercar aims for these
days; 0-100 km/h in under three seconds and a top speed exceeding 402 km/h. Unsurprising of a company as small as Lister, production of the
Storm II would be limited, potentially to just six examples annually. A price
of 2 million pounds (US$ 2.7 million) is possible.
