Partisan Motors is a startup company out of Germany
that came out with the Partisan One last October. The simplistically styled SUV
is essentially a heavy-duty box on wheels. It’s supposedly really easy to put
together, has mounting points for armor plating, and should be available in
numerous variants.
The rugged SUV was the company’s first model and was
obviously the vehicle it planned to use for the basis of its other machines.
Partisan Motors has returned, but this time, it’s with a special edition model
that it hopes Musk will shoot off of the planet.
The Partisan One Mars Edition has apparently been
designed to operate on other planets besides Earth. The SUV, according to the
company, is a fully-electric vehicle that has an easy-to-assemble body
featuring carbon fiber. Despite being made out of the lightweight material, the
SUV still looks like a box on wheels.
Taking a leaf out of Tesla and Nissan’s playbook,
the SUV’s body is covered in solar panels that should help the batteries
recharge after a day of driving. Each corner of the vehicle has its own
electric motor which, as the company claims, should improve reliability, reduce
weight, and improve its maintainability, all important factors when on a
different planet.
Partisan Motors boldly states that it wants Musk to
forget about sending an electric Tesla into space and go with the new special
edition SUV instead. The company claims that it’s ready to build a series of
EVs for him to launch. The vehicles will come with easy-to-follow directions
that Musk and his crew will be able to assemble them on Mars, like a piece of
Ikea furniture.
First Tesla comes out with a plan to put a car into
space and now there’s talk about SUVs on planets. While the choice makes plenty of sense, as Musk also
happens to be the CEO of SpaceX, Partisan One wants him to put something a
little more rugged into another planet.
