Toyota has launched the Yaris facelift in Indonesia.
The B-segment hatchback is similar in appearance to the Thai-market Yaris eco
car, which was launched in September 2017.
In the Land of Smiles, the Yaris and Yaris Ativ
sedan are Thai eco cars with entry level price tags and 1.2 litre engines. No
such restrictions in Indonesia, where the Yaris will be positioned higher than
the Daihatsu Ayla and Toyota Agya Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) twins, which come
with 1.0L and 1.2L engines.
In Indonesia, the Toyota Yaris will be a relatively
premium choice with a 1.5 litre engine. The motor in question is the 2NR unit
also found in our Perodua Myvi and Toyota Vios, with DOHC and Dual VVT-i. It
makes 107 PS and 140 Nm of torque, and is mated to either a five-speed manual
or a CVT automatic. Three grades are available – E, G and the TRD Sportivo –
which makes it six variants in total.
The TRD gets exclusive kit such as projector
headlamps (with a red ring accent), bodykit with rear spoiler, LED DRLs,
16-inch two-tone alloys and LED tail lamps. The latter two are also available
in the G. Inside, the TRD range topper comes with a leather-wrapped steering
wheel with audio buttons, shift paddles and Sport/Eco modes (CVT only),
Optitron meters with colour TFT multi-info display, push start and auto air
con.
Entertainment wise, the top car gets a seven-inch DVD-AVX head
unit with Miracast, Weblink and six speakers. Safety wise, all variants get
ABS/EBD/BA, VSC, HSA, seven airbags. Prices range from IDR 235.4 million for the E MT to IDR 275.9 million for the TRD Sportivo CVT.
