The Dodge Challenger has seen in an uptick in sales
and the company is hoping to keep that momentum going by announcing a handful
of new options for the aging muscle car. First and foremost, the company will
offer a new Shakedown Package on the Challenger R/T Shaker, R/T Plus Shaker and
392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker.
The package draws inspiration from the 1971 Dodge
Shakedown Challenger that was shown at SEMA in 2016 and it features
asymmetrical racing stripes that spawn the entire length of the car. The US$ 995
package also includes white-faced gauges and an Alpine audio system with up to
nine speakers.
Besides the Shakedown package, Dodge is bringing
back two retro colors: B5 Blue and Plum Crazy. Originally introduced in 1969
and 1970, the retro colors will be available on Charger and Challenger T/A, T/A
Plus and T/A 392 models.
In a statement, FCA North America Head of Passenger
Car Brands Steve Beahm said “Dodge//SRT has a rich history of using iconic
heritage and high-impact colors and unique graphics to make our vehicles look
custom, straight from the factory.”
He went on to say “Whether a customer remembers B5
and Plum Crazy from when they were new in the ‘60s and ‘70s or they’re a new
customer today, these paint colors and unique Shaker stripes stand out in the
crowd and speak to our customers’ passion for their cars and their love of the
Dodge and SRT brands.”
