The Hyundai Tucson has grown in popularity over the
past few years and the company is looking to build on that momentum by
introducing the new Tucson Sport.
Currently arriving at U.S. dealerships, the 2018
Tucson Sport comes equipped with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces
181 hp and 237 Nm of torque. This is a modest improvement
over the standard model which has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 164 hp and 204 Nm of torque.
The Tucson Sport comes
equipped with “premium” fascias, a chromed dual exhaust system and 19-inch
alloy wheels. The model also has a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a dual-zone
automatic climate control system and a proximity key with a push button
ignition. Drivers will also find a handful of driver assistance systems
including lane change assist and a blind spot detection system with rear
cross-traffic alert.
Pricing starts at US$ 25,150 for front-wheel drive
models and US$ 26,550 for all-wheel drive variants. This means the model is only US$ 1,350 more expensive than the Tucson SEL despite having a more powerful engine
and a host of nicer amenities.
However, it’s worth mentioning the Tucson Value
starts at US$ 26,550 and comes equipped with a turbocharged 1.6-liter
four-cylinder engine producing 175 hp and 264 Nm of
torque. While it has 6 hp less than the Tucson Sport, the model has
additional 27 Nm of torque.
