The development of the Jaguar F-Pace SVR is finally
over, as the British carmaker has confirmed that it will bring it to the 2018
New York Auto Show for its world premiere. The hot version of
the SUV is expected to be about twice as expensive as the entry-level model,
which starts at £ 34,730 (US$ 49,075) in the UK, and US$ 42,065 on this side of the
pond.
By comparison, the Porsche Macan Turbo, one of its
direct rivals, can be had from £ 63,981 (US$ 90,408) in Britain, whereas the
Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 has a starting price of £ 66,905 (US$ 94,539). The
range-topping member of the F-Pace family is believed to use the same
supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission as the
F-Type SVR. The sports car has 567 hp and 700 Nm of torque
available on tap, and the performance SUV might retain these exact same
numbers.
A 0-100 km/h sprint of around 4.0
seconds is expected, which would make the new Jaguar F-Pace SVR quicker than
the Porsche Macan Turbo, which is 0.4 sec slower to 100 km/h.
In addition to the new powertrain, the hot version
of the SUV gets upgraded suspension and brakes, a titanium exhaust with quad
tailpipes and a beefy body kit meant to improve its aerodynamics and make it
instantly recognizable. We expect the Jaguar F-Pace SVR to arrive in
dealerships nationwide before the end of the year.
